7/1/2012 - BAGRAM AIRFIELD, AFGHANISTAN -- Two members of 455th Expeditionary Civil Engineer Squadron, Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan, recently bested competitors from bases throughout the region to earn the title "strongest in the AOR."
Lt Col Katrina Stephens, 455th Expeditionary Force Support Squadron commander, presented the winners their individual medals and their "Strongest in the AOR" trophies during a brief ceremony in Bagram's "The Rock" gym.
TSgt Ryan Callagy and SrA Melanie Harris both faced more than 40 members of various bases in the region. Their victories in several categories assured individual success as "best overall."
Callagy, from Gulfport, Mississippi, first noticed advertisements for the contest three years ago. He's competed successfully for several years, but this is the first time he's won it all.
Harris, from March Air Force Base, Cal., says this is her second time competing, but she is no stranger to the weight room.
"I've always been athletic. I like pushing my limits. Once I found out that other people from my unit were competing, I knew I had to give it a try," said Harris.
Stephens finished her presentation announcement by reinforcing the benefits of a consistent fitness program.
