455th Air Expeditionary Wing 455th Air Expeditionary Wing

The 455th Air Expeditionary Wing is one of two Air Force wings in Afghanistan and supports members deployed throughout the country as part of Operation Enduring Freedom. It is the primary combat wing in Afghanistan.

The commander is supported by a wing staff and oversees five Air Force groups located at Bagram Airfield and Kandahar Airfield, with additional detachments within Afghanistan.

The 455th Air Expeditonary Wing commander reports to the 9th Air and Space Expeditionary Task Force- Afghanistan in Kabul, Afghanistan. 
tab455th Expeditionary Operations Group 
The operations group is responsible for all expeditionary flying and aeromedical evacuation operations for the 455th AEW. The group oversees operations of one A-10 Thunderbolt II close air support squadron, one F-16 Fighting Falcon fighter squadron, one C-130J Super Hercules airlift squadron, one HH-60 Pave Hawk rescue squadron, one aeromedical evacuation squadron, one MC-12W Liberty airborne intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance squadron, and administrative control over an EC-130 Compass Call electronic combat squadron. The group also oversees support functions such as air traffic control, intelligence, weather and airfield management and operations for both Bagram and Kabul.
tab451st Air Expeditionary Group 
451st Air Expeditionary Group: The 451st Air Expeditionary Group provides a persistent and powerful airpower presence in the Afghanistan area of operations. The 451st AEG Airmen provide world-class Close Air Support, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance, Command and Control, and Airborne Datalink capabilities whenever and wherever needed. The group operates the MQ-1B Predator, MQ-9 Reaper, and E-11 aircraft.
tab455th Expeditionary Medical Group 
The group provides combat medical and combat medical support services to U.S. and coalition forces throughout Afghanistan. The group supports a 24/7 Contingency Aeromedical Staging Facility (CASF) and serves as the aeromedical evacuation hub for all of Afghanistan. Along with the U.S. Army, the 455th EMDG staffs the Craig Joint Theater Hospital at Bagram.
tab455th Expeditionary Maintenance Group 
The group provides combat-ready aircraft and munitions to the air component commander in support of coalition forces throughout Afghanistan. The group is comprised of two squadrons responsible for on-and-off-aircraft maintenance and sortie generation, as well as launch, recovery, and servicing support for military and commercial transient aircraft.
tab455th Expeditionary Mission Support Group 
The group provides a wide range of services for the air component commander in support of coalition forces throughout Afghanistan. The 455th EMSG is comprised of six squadrons responsible for personnel accountability, manpower resources, airfield management, billeting, morale and welfare, communications, local national force protection escorts, fuels, vehicle maintenance, logistics planning and passenger and air terminal operations.
